Mónica Redondo Biography

After completing her advanced studies in Madrid, the young Spanish mezzo-soprano quickly stood out on the operatic scene for the richness and beauty of her voice, as well as her interpretative skills.

She has received awards in several competitions: the Advanced Study Scholarship at the Valleseco Zarzuela Competition (2019), second prize at the Logroño Singing Competition (2021), and second prize along with the Audience Award at the Medinaceli Competition (2022).

She has performed as a soloist in prestigious venues such as the Euskalduna Jauregia Palace, the National Auditorium of Madrid, the Opera Palace in A Coruña, and the cathedrals of Jaén and Ciudad Real, among others, interpreting opera, oratorio, zarzuela, and song recital repertoire.

She has performed roles such as Dido (Dido and Aeneas, Purcell), Maddalena and Giovanna (Rigoletto), Curra (La Forza del Destino, Verdi), and Soledad (La Revoltosa, Chapí). In other genres, she has also sung Vivaldi’s Gloria, Mozart’s Requiem, Mahler’s Symphony No. 2, and Handel’s Messiah.

Recently, she debuted in A Coruña with Verdi’s La Forza del Destino (2023). There, she also participated in a lyric gala alongside Angela Meade and Veronika Dzhioeva, accompanied by the Galicia Symphony Orchestra under the baton of J.M. Pérez-Sierra. In 2023, she debuted at the Teatro Cervantes in Málaga as Aurora (Doña Francisquita) alongside Ismael Jordi and María José Moreno. She also performed Verdi’s Requiem at the National Auditorium of Madrid (2024).

In June 2024, she made her debut at the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville as Fenena in Nabucco under the direction of Gaetano Lo Coco.

In 2025/2026, Mónica makes her debut as Aurora in Doña Francisquita in Oviedo; she performs Pepa in Granados’s Goyescas at the Teatro Cervantes in Málaga (2025) and at the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid (2026); she sings Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with the Seville Symphony Orchestra (2025); she offers a Manuel García / Pauline Viardot recital at the Seville Opera Festival and for the BBVA Foundation; and she appears as Geneviève in Pelléas et Mélisande at the La Coruña Opera Festival.

In the 2026/2027 season, her engagements include debuts with the RTVE Orchestra under Miquel Ortega in opera excerpts; with the Málaga Philharmonic Orchestra in a program of Verdi, Puccini, and Mascagni; and at the Teatro Campoamor in Oviedo in a zarzuela gala. She will also perform the title role in Chapí’s La Bruja at the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid, conducted by José Miguel Pérez-Sierra.
