Mónica Redondo Biography

Young mezzo-soprano from Guadalajara who is emerging strongly on the lyrical scene, soon standing out for the warmth of her timbre and the solidity of her interpretation.

She recently made her debut at the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville as Fenena (Nabucco, Verdi), under the baton of Gaetano Lo Coco, and at the Teatro Campoamor in Oviedo as Aurora “La Beltrana” (Doña Francisquita, Vives), directed by Lluís Pascual and Leo Castaldi, and conducted by Diego Martin-Etxebarria.

At the Teatro Cervantes in Málaga, she made her 2025 debut as Pepa (Goyescas, Enrique Granados) as part of La Edad de Plata, a theatre where she had debuted in 2023 in the role of Aurora in Doña Francisquita, both productions directed by Francisco López and conducted by José María Moreno.

Finishing her Professional and Advanced Studies in Madrid with top marks, she has won several prizes in multiple zarzuela and opera competitions early in her career.

She has performed as a soloist at the Euskalduna Palace, the National Music Auditorium, the Teatro Colón in A Coruña, and the Toledo Cathedral, among others, singing Opera, Oratorio, Zarzuela and Art Song Recitals in various languages.

She has debuted the roles of Geneviève (Pelléas et Mélisande, Debussy), Dido (Dido and Aeneas, Purcell), Manuela (Agua, azucarillos y aguardiente, Chueca), Maddalena and Giovanna (Rigoletto, Verdi), Curra (La Forza del Destino, Verdi), Estiro (Jasón o la Conquista del Vellocino, Brunetti), and Soledad (La Revoltosa, Chapí), under conductors such as José Miguel Pérez-Sierra and José María Moreno, and alongside renowned singers such as Angela Meade, Veronika Dzhioeva, Ismael Jordi and María José Moreno.

In other genres, she has performed Gloria (Vivaldi), Requiem (Mozart), Symphony No. 2 (Mahler), Messiah (Händel), Stabat Mater (Pergolesi), Symphony No. 9 (Beethoven) and Messa da Requiem (Verdi).

Among her upcoming engagements is her debut at the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid as Pepa (Goyescas, Enrique Granados).
