Known for her sparkling coloratura and breathtaking interpretations of both classical and contemporary music, Julia Bauer has emerged as one of the most fascinating sopranos of her generation.
Countless international engagements have taken the young artist to theatres such as the New National Theatre in Tokyo, the Oregon Bach Festival in Eugene USA, the Volksoper Vienna, the Brucknerhaus in Linz, the Palau de les arts Reina Sofia in Valencia and the Teatro della Maestranza in Seville.
In her native Germany, she has performed in most of the leading opera houses, amongst them the Semperoper in Dresden, the Staatsoper Stuttgart, the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin, the Komische Oper Berlin, the Aalto Theater in Essen, the Leipzig Opera and the Staatsoper Hannover.

In concert, Julia Bauer regularly joins many of today’s leading orchestras (the Ensemble Intercontemporain, the Budapest National Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Liceu in Barcelona, the Concerto Köln, the RSB Berlin and the Munich Radio Orchestra) under the direction of conductors such as Daniel Barenboim, Frank Beermann, Martyn Brabbins, Dan Ettinger, Riccardo

Chailly, Sir Andrew Davis, Peter Eötvös, Marek Janowski, Josep Pons, Helmut Rilling, Ulf Schirmer, Michael Schønwand und Stefsan Soltesz.
Her considerable repertoire ranges from classical Lieder, Mozart concert arias, and the orchestral Lieder of Berg, Mahler, Strauss and Zemlinsky to Karlheinz Stockhausen’s Momente.

Recent operatic seasons have seen her triumph as both Lulu and Zerbinetta at the Aalto Theater in Essen, as Zerbinetta in Valencia and Stuttgart, as Aminta (Die Schweigsame Frau) in Seville, Chemnitz and Essen and as Lakmé at the Opéra de Lausanne, not to mention as Queen of the Night, which she sings regularly and which was rapturously received at the Komische Oper Berlin in 2014/15.

Future plans include a CD recording of Aram Chatschaturjan’s concert arias, her debut as Freia in Das Rheingold and Fiorella in Rossini’s Turco in Italia as well further performances as Queen of the Night.
