Artavazd Sargsyan Biography

Graduate of the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris with Daniel Ottevaere in 2013, Artavazd Sargsyan becomes a member of the atelier lyrique de l’ Opera Bastille in the 14/15 season. On stage, he performs the roles of Gérald in Lakmé by Delibes, Nadir in The Pearl Fishers by Bizet, Don Ramiro in La Cenerentola by Rossini, Cendrillon de Massenet at Opéra de Lille with Laurent Pelly, Ferrando in Cosi fan tutte with the Orchestra of Massy, under the direction of D. Ruits, Nemorino in L’Elisir d’Amore at the opera festival of Belle Ile en Mer and the role of Arthur in Donizetti’s Lucie de Lammermoor at the festival of Morlaix. Member of the troupe La Péniche Opera, he sang in L’ivrogne corrigé by Gluck with Barokopera Amsterdam; the Witch in Hänsel und Gretel of Humperdinck in Paris and Fontainebleau Avec Opera Fuoco, le rôle de Ferrando dans Così fan tutte de Mozart sous la direction de David Stern.

 At the Wildbad Rossini Festival he sings the roles: a Fisherman in Guillaume Tell, Belfiore in Il viaggio a Reims, Bertrando in l’Inganno Felice conducted by Antonino Fogliani, Daniel in Le Chalet d’Adolph Adam, under the direction of Federico Longo, Ernesto in Ricciardo e Zoraide de Rossini conducted by José Miguel Pérez-Sierra, production recorded by  Naxos in CD and Blu Ray.

During 2014 he sings a series of concerts with «Les Paladins» and Jerôme Correas at the Opéra de Reims, at the Théâtre de Compiègne, and at the baroque festival in Potsdam, the role of the magician in Menotti’s The Consul, under the direction of Inaki Encina Oyon.

In 2015/2016, we find Artavazd Sargsyan at L’opéra de Metz in Il Turco en Italia, at the Teatro Bellini in Catania as Teseo in Fedra by Paisiello and at Tourcoing and at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysée in Paris for his Lindoro debut in L ‘Italiana in Algeri under the direction of Jean-Claude Malgoire, in Budapest for Isbé de Mondonville and on recording of the Mass of Saint-Louis by Gounod, with the Brussels Philharmonic and the choir of the Flemish Radio under the direction of Hervé Niquet.

In 2016/17, we can cite Proserpine by Saint Saëns in Munich (Prinzregenttheater) and Versailles, a production by the Palazetto Bru-Zane, Le Temple de la Gloire de Rameau in San Francisco with the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, Chimène or Le Cid by Sacchini at ARCAL and the CMBV, Les Chevaliers de la table ronde at the Limoges Opera, Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni with the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra under the direction of David Stern etc…

In 2019/20, he sings a Messe de Clémence de Grandval with Accentus at the Bouffes du Nord, Tchekalinski in the Dame de Pique at the Nice and Toulon Operas, production by Olivier Py.

He sings in the 2020/21 season: Halévy’s La Reine De Chypre at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Gounod’s Le Tribut De Zamora in Munich, Aristide in Les P’tites Michu at the Opéra de Nantes / Angers, San Giovanni Battista by Stradella at the Operas of Nantes and Rennes and at the Festival de Saintes, La Fille de Madame Angot at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysée, etc.

During the 2021/22 season, he sings Monteverdi’s Il Combatimiento in Helsinki, Oronte in Haendel´s Alcina at the Saarbrücken Opera, Cherubini’s Les Abencérages in Budapest, Czekalinski in Tchaikovsky’s Pique Dame at the opera Toulon, Frank’s Hulda with the Orchester Philharmonique de Liège, Saint-Saëns Frédégonde at the Tours Opera, etc.

His commitments for 2023 include: Frank’s Les Béatitudes with the Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liège, Rossini´s Petite Messe Solennelle at Opéra de Tours, concert and recording of La vie Parisienne with the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, revivals of Sacchini´s Chimène ou Le Cid with l’ARCAL, Werther with Le Palazzetto Bru Zane in Budapest, concert and recording of Mozart´s «Die Schuldigkeit des ersten Gebotes» with the Il Caravaggio Ensemble, etc.
