Cesar San Martín Biography

With a voice of beautiful colour, César San Martín is one of the most renowned baritones in Spanish theater. San Martín is acclaimed not only for the outstanding quality of his voice, but also for his versatility.

Since his debut in the opera Il Barbere di Siviglia as Figaro at the Teatro Real in Madrid, César San Martín has interpreted numerous opera and zarzuela roles such as Belcore in L’elixir d’Amore; Don Giovanni in Don Giovanni; the Conte di Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro; the Dottore Malatesta in Don Pasquale; Joaquín in La del Manojo de Rosas; Germán in La del Soto del Parral; and Julián in La Verbena de la Paloma.

San Martín has sung in theaters such as the Teatro Real and the Teatro de la Zarzuela of Madrid, Theatre du Capitole in Toulouse, as well as various theaters in Italy including Pesaro, Roma and Treviso. In 2016, for the Centenary of Enrique Granados’death, he will sing goyescas at the Opera di Firenze and at the San Carlo Theater in Naples.
