The brothers Ivan and Mikhail Pochekin are one of the most vivid musicians of their time. They have both made outstanding solo careers by performing in major halls, amongst which are the Mariinsky Theater Concert Hall (Saint Petersburg), Bunka Kaikan in Tokyo, the Grand Hall of Moscow Conservatory or Philharmonie im Gasteig in Munich.
The debut of the brothers as a Duo took place October 1, 2011 in the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow, accompanied by the State symphony orchestra New Russia (artistic director and cheef conductor – Yuri Bashmet). From then on the Pochekin Duo has been performing with outstanding ensembles including the Mariinsky Theater Symphony Orchestra, the Moscow Philharmonic, the Evgeny Svetlanov State academic symphony orchestra of Russia, Tatarstan National Symphony Orchestra, the Chamber orchestra «Musica Viva» and many others.
The duo’s vast repertory includes pieces ranging from the baroque period to contemporary music.
It’s important to mention that starting from 2012 Ivan has also been performing as a violist which extends significantly the duo’s repertory possibilities. The musicians’ special attention goes to chamber music. In January 2018 the Melodia label launched the brothers’ first album The Unity of Opposites which includes duets for violin and viola by W.A. Mozart and M.Haydn, as well as S. Prokofiev’s sonata and 12 duets for two violins by R. Gliere. The disc has received rapturous reviews from many different countries:
