Lidija Jovanović Biography

Lidija was born in Belgrade, Serbia where she started her musical education playing piano at the age of six. As a young pianist she won numerous prizes at various competitions in  Yugoslavia. After getting the Eurobank EFG scholarship for the best students of Serbia and the  Scholarship for young talents of the Republic of Serbia she decides to pursue her development  as a pianist with a master in interpretation at the HEMU Lausanne.

Alongside her piano studies she takes singing lessons and in 2011 she starts a bachelor in  singing at the HEM Geneva. In the following years she becomes a member of the Swiss  Opera Studio studying in the class of the great contralto Nathalie Stutzmann.

She gets the opportunity to learn from artists such as Mariella Devia, Christiane Stutzmann,  Sara Mingardo, Jadwiga Rappé, Jeannette Fischer, Marijana Mijanović, William Blank, Gianluigi  Gelmetti, Xavier Sabata, José Miguel Pérez Sierra.

In the season 2019-20, Lidija performs Flora Bervoix in La traviata at the Opéra-Théâtre Metz  Métropole (staging Paul Émile Fourny, musical direction David Reiland).

Opera roles performed during studies include Zita in Gianni Schicchi (Puccini), Mother Bayard in The Long Christmas Dinner (Hindermith), Dritte Dame in Die Zauberflöte (Mozart).

Her concert repertory includes the major contralto parts such as Bach’s Matthäus-Passion, Weihnachts-Oratorium or  Handel’s Messiah. She collaborates with conductors such as Nathalie Stutzmann, Bojan Suđić and performs with orchestras National Symphony Orchestra RTÉ (Ireland), Stavanger  Symphony Orchestra (Norway), Royal Liverpool Philharmonic (United Kingdom), Symphony  Orchestra RTS Belgrade (Serbia).

Very attached to contemporary music, Lidija sings Die Köchin beim Oberst in Die  Gespenstersonate (Reimann) with the Ensemble Contrechamps and Johannes Kalitzke at the  Radio Suisse-Romande, L’Élégie (Domagala) at the 6. Festiwal Prawykonan Polska Muzyka  Najnowsza in Katowice with Orkiestra Muzyki Nowej and Szymon Bywalec, Nous? La raison du coeur (Huber) on the occasion of composer’s 90th anniversary (Société de Musique  Contemporaine Lausanne), Songs for voice & piano (Kurylewicz) at the Festival Dni Muzyki  Andrzeja Kurylewicza in Warsaw.

As an alto soloist she performed with many choirs in Switzerland – Choeur Neuf de Lutry,  Choeur ProArte, Ensemble Vocal de Terre Sainte, Capella Concertata, Choeur La Chanson du  Pays de Gruyère, Choeur Caecilia de Saint-Jean.

Her performances broadcast on several radio stations across Europe.

In July 2018 she won the third prize in the 5th International Singing Competition Un Futuro  DEARTE in Medinaceli, Spain.
